Frontera Healthcare Network is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support our clinics throughout the Texas Hill Country, including Brady, Menard, Mason, Fredericksburg, and Junction. This position is ideal for a compassionate, adaptable healthcare professional who enjoys working with diverse patient populations and making a meaningful impact in rural communities.

As a Float Medical Assistant, you will be an essential member of the healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care, assisting with clinical and administrative functions, and helping ensure a positive experience for patients of all ages.

What You'll Do

  • Assist providers in delivering quality patient care in a community health center setting.
  • Administer immunizations and provide patient education within your scope of competency.
  • Perform clinical, laboratory, and administrative duties as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Support workflow and patient care coordination across multiple clinic locations.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment.
  • Cross-train and provide support at the front desk when needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Medical Assistant certification or equivalent training/experience as required by state and organizational standards.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing direct patient care as a Medical Assistant.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively use electronic health records and standard office equipment.

Preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience in a community health center, family practice, or rural healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of health promotion, disease prevention, and patient motivation techniques.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and standard medical abbreviations.
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow clinic policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately document patient information and maintain medical records.
  • Ability to educate patients and communicate effectively with staff and community partners.
  • Experience using clinical equipment such as glucometers and interpreting results.
  • Ability to prepare reports, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with computers, phones, copiers, fax machines, and other office equipment.
